I have a lot of friends with dyslexia, including my friend William. William and I formed the idea for the Andrium as a way to help dyslexic students have an easier process revising/writing essays and research papers. We made product sketches and I decided to prototype our idea for our school's Shark Tank competition. After exhaustive CAD design and sourcing a mini-PC, screen, keyboard internals, and 3D printing + CNC machining services, I was finally able to complete our prototype. The body is an MJF vapor-smoothed 3D print, then sprayed with primer and four coats of matte baby blue spray-paint. The knob is CNC-machined aluminum, and the bottom is covered with a beautiful laser-engraved walnut veneer. Although we had to deal with horrific warping in the 3D printed body and paint chipping, I'm overall proud of how the prototype turned out. We placed first in our school business competition as well.
